Sure enough it wasn’t, so I tried to download the patch from Ubisoft’s website. The patching fails the same way as with the Steam version, saying ’Could not retrieve version number. Installation will be aborted.’
I’ve tried my best to screw around with different methods of installing the patch, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but have met with no luck.
I just want to patch the game to either version 1.0.2 or 1.0.3 from 1.0.1 so that I can play using an Eyefinity setup because those resolutions weren’t supported by the game until later versions.

Yes, despite the file version of farycry2.exe being listed as 1.0.1, I booted the game and confirmed that I was unable to select Eyefinity resolutions. Also, as in the Steam version that I own, the benchmark tool is the newest version and will boot the benchmarks with Eyefinity resolutions.

In any case, raise a support ticket to GOG with all the details and maybe search the Ubisoft and Steam forums to see if anyone has any workarounds.
This said, it is worth mentioning that Ubisoft removed the SecuROM DRM from FarCry 2 anyway. One of the patches removed it so the retail disc was no longer required (and I guess the whole activations). You can see the version in top left of the main menu. I hadn’t noticed this before and mine indeed does say v1.03 in-game. I was basing my previous assertions on the properties window of the .exe’s themselves. The attached image should show what I’m talking about. The fact remains that the resolutions don’t show up as an option.
The Eyefinity works in other applications etc, so I don’t think that’s the issue.
I ended up getting it to work just now by altering the GamerProfile.xml file in Documents/My Games/Far Cry 2 directory. I can’t believe I hadn’t found this simple fix before this.. I must have assumed that since Eyefinity was supposed to be natively supported by newer versions that I had a version problem and immediately stopped searching for my actual problem.
